Excellent article, Flex, with very solid rationale.
I also sold my house last year to move for a job. While we are renting, I’ve been thinking of doing the same as you. (Also have young kids)

One concern I have that things might truly be different this time is not in the stock market side but rather the house side. The proliferation of Wall Street backed REITs buying up huge swaths of single family homes, no matter the price, to rent out forever, may permanently inflate prices artificially.

Any housing price drops would be seen by these REITs as an opportunity to buy the dip.
